Elegant, unshowy Chianti Classico
Paul Kiernan. April 10
Civilised, understated red. Colour only moderately deep. Nose of dusty dark cherries, raspberry, and tobacco leaf. Great freshness on the palate, with relatively gentle tannins. Palate flavours similar to nose, maybe with some mint and leather too. Drank on Holy Thursday with lamb loin chops in a (creamy!) mushroom sauce. Decent pairing, despite apparent mismatch between cream and red wine. 85/100
