Rasteau Tradition

Rasteau is one of the most famous villages for producing rich reds in the Southern Rhone. This village is now its own Cru Appellation and French wine law recognises it at the same level as Gigondas and Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This rich, full-bodied Rhone made by Caves de Rateau uses a blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. The wine has a wonderful rich spicy, peppery nose with lots of ripe black fruit notes.

Irish Independent

"A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, the Rasteau Ortas Tradition is a big, chunky wine with masses of dark, dense fruit, and robust but approachable tannins. Try it with a steak or a good meaty stew. "
Vintage 2007: Katherine Donnelly - 12 January 2008

Sunday Business Post

"An ultra modern winery set up and cutting edge wine making are what you find here… This traditional blend of Grenache and Syrah produces a meaty, tannic wine, but despite 14 per cent alcohol it is more fruity and spicy than hot… it is worth trying with sausage or with a chorizo, green bean and cherry tomato salad."
Vintage 2008: Tomás Clancy - 25 July 2010

Decanter Magazine

"Beautiful, vibrant purple colour. Wild herb notes with violet and dark berries, plus creamy tannins. Very moreish finish. Drink from 2009."
Vintage 2007: Rated 3***

Wines We Love

"Top-selling highly acclaimed Rasteau from the multi-awarding Caves de Rasteau, plenty of body but in no way heavy this is a very smooth red brimming with spicey, bramble fruit, a brilliant all-rounder."

I LOVE WINE

Chrissie. February 10

It's very well to listen to critics who talk about blend of herbs, dark robust taste etc but one is still left wondering what does mean to the ordinary punter or boozer like me. Tasting is in the hand of the beholder. It is a fantastic wine very smooth without that bitter after taste that some wine leave.very easy to drink.Don't drink it for a buzzy night it would be an insult to it.Recommended for any occassion
