Clos du Val Chardonnay

Bernard Portet whose winemaking skills were gleaned from Château Latour identified the vineyards for Clos du Val in the premium area of Napa Valley. The original winemaking tenets of balance, elegance and complexity still guide Clos du Val's winemaking pursuits today. This 2004 Carneros Chardonnay exhibits a golden colour, with greenish edges. Scents of white peach, pear and green apple mingle with some vanilla toast in the nose. The rich wine has an excellent fruit and oak balance, a crisp, clean long finish and has real premier cru Côtes de Beaune nuances, a triumph!

Sunday Business Post

"The 2006 is still improving. It is gloriously Meursault-like in its buttery, caramel-like tones, but now increasingly nutty. (92)"
2006: Tomás Clancy - 22 January 2012

Sunday Tribune

"2006: Opulent, sensuous but with a perfect balance between gorgeous juicy fruit and oak. A crisp, long, rewarding finish. Could easily be confused with a pricey premier cru from Burgundy. Rediscover your inner love of well-made Chardonnay with this stunner."
Lar Veale - 12 December 2010
