How Much Wine do you Need?

Champagne / Sparkling

A standard sized bottle of champagne or sparkling wine will serve 8 glasses. For a champagne reception, you should ideally allow 2-3 glasses per person. So for 100 guests, you will need 100x2 = 200 glasses or 34 bottles.

Red and White Wine

Allow a half bottle per person with a little extra just to be sure! Normally there is an even split between red and white but in summer months, you should allow for more white wine. A standard 75cl bottle of wine will serve 6 medium sized wine glasses, therefore, 1 case of wine (12 bottles) = 60 glasses. Don’t forget soft drinks for the drivers and ensure you have enough water for your guests for all day functions, allow a half litre of water per person.

Extras

Ensure you have enough glasses, ice and ice-buckets, - our experienced staff will be glad to advise you on the amount you will need.

Sale or Return

It can be difficult to judge how much wine you will need even with the best of guidelines. Take the worry out of running out with our sale or return policy – we will take back and fully refund up to 25% of your total order. Free Delivery:
O’Briens will deliver free of charge direct to your home or venue for orders over €200. Anything under €200 will incur a small charge of €10.

Corkage

Many venues will offer you a list of house wines but if you are keen to bring the highly awarded O’Briens wines, make sure to enquire about corkage. This is a charge added at a venue for every bottle of wine or champagne served that was not bought on the premises.

Corkage costs tend to be higher for Champagne / Sparkling but there is usually room for negotiating.
