Gérard Bertrand Domaine de Cigalus
Gérard Bertrand Domaine de Cigalus
Languedoc, France

Gérard Bertrand bought Domaine de Cigalus in 1995. The 75 hectare estate is located close to Narbonne in the Languedoc’s Corbières region, on the southern coast of France.

The climate at Domaine de Cigalus is Mediterranean with hot summers and mild winters. The terroir is composed of a silt-clay soil that helps retain moisture during the dry growing season. The 75 hectares of vines form a single plot surrounding the estate and is planted with a wide variety of grapes: Chardonnay , Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc for the whites, along with Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon , Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache , Carignan and Caladoc for the reds.

The estate is farmed organically and has been Biodynamically certified since 2010. With a holistic approach in the vineyard, Gérard Bertrand and his team ensure only the very best quality grapes reach the winery, where they undergo minimum intervention winemaking.

Stainless steel and new French oak barrels are used for vinifying and ageing the estate’s white and red wines.
