The Viña Chocalán story began in 1996 when Guillermo Toro Gonzalez, a Chilean entrepreneur with strong links to the wine-making business as the leading bottle supplier for the industry, proposed to diversify the family business and branch out into producing high-quality wines.
Today, led by Guillermo’s daughter Aida Toro, family-owned Viña Chocalán is recognized as one of the leading wineries in Chile producing high-quality white and red wines
Situated on apristine stretch ofland wedged between the Andes and Coastal mountain ranges, Viña Chocalan’s sustainably-certified vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate in Maipo Valley. With 300 days of sunshine each year and located just 35km from the Pacific Ocean, afternoon cool ocean breezes create contrasting temperatures from day and night, allowing for an excellent slow maturation of the fruit.
Perfectionists by nature, the Toro family is hands-on at every level of the winery’s operation. All grapes are hand-picked in the vineyard and hand-selected prior to fermentation to ensure optimal quality.
In keeping with this quality-focus, the entire range of wines are now presented with stunning new packaging inspired the family’s roots in the glass business.
I have picked out just two of the wines below both of which are currently on offer at the promotional price of €11.95 in our stores.
Wonderfully aromatic, ChocalánSauvignon Blanc Reservais anincredibly zesty, lively Sauvignon Blanc that has the intensity of flavour and purity of fruit you would expect from a €20 New Zealand Sauvignon.
