A Taste of Summer!

A Taste of Summer!

At this time of year my thoughts always tend to turn toward rosé, for me, nothing says summer quite like a crisp refreshing glass of rosé.

Deliciously drinkable on its own, Rosé’s star reallyshineswhen it comes tofood matching, probably because of the fact that it expresses some of thecharactersof both red and white wines.

Of course for most of us, thinking of a crisp glass of Rosé conjures up images of sitting in the evening sun on a terrace somewhere in the Mediterranean and admittedly, Stillorgan Business Park is not quite the South of France but as I gaze out the office window just now it looks like perfect Rosé weather, even if it was raining just two hours ago.

So in this gloriouslyunpredictable climate of ours, it seems we can never predict when the sun will be shining,so my advice is to stock up and be prepared to seize the moment when it does.

I have picked out some of my favourite French Rosés below, all of which are included in ourRosé promotionwhich runs all summer long.

In France the current fashion is to make Rosé with just the slightest hint of pink and the Lynch-Bages owned L'Ostal Cazes Rosé from the Languedoc is a brilliant example of the style, aromatic and packed with flavour. This beautiful strawberry scented dry Rosé is simply superb withbarbecuedfood.

From the Bordeaux region, Château de Sours Rosé is pale pink in colour, luscious and vibrant and offers vivacious red berry fruit aromas along with some delicate mineral characteristics with hints of bubble-gum and mouth-watering strawberries and cream on the palate. It is surprisingly full and rich, balanced by a lovely refreshing acidity and a long dry finish.

It is no secret that the most sought-after Rosés come from Provence and Château Riotor Rosé is amongst the best Rosés in the world: a proper wine with excellent structure and fantastic fruit definition. It comes from the Provence estate of the famous Châteauneauf-du-Pape producer Mont-Redon and is wonderfully pale in colour but with a superb depth of fruit, this structured food style is ideal for summer lunches.
