Award-Winning Wines included in our Wine Sale

Award-Winning Wines included in our Wine Sale

With our September sale continuing this week, I thought I might take the opportunity to highlight a couple of the Award-Winning Wines represented in the line-up.

Unbelievable value at €10 and a Silver medal-winner at the International Wine Challenge 2016, Xovial displays benchmark Albariño character, and is a great expression of the Atlantic-influenced Rías Baixas terroir.

“Green apple puree with zesty lime aromas. Leesy beeswax characters on the nose with a balanced, refreshing and long finish.” Judge’s Note

Credited with being the original Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Brancott Estate is still to this day one of the standard bearers for the region. This 2015 vintage was rated “Outstanding” with a score of 90/100 by Wine Spectator Magazine

“Fragrant and juicy, with apple blossom, lime zest and chive blossom notes surrounding a core of intense and refreshing lemon and grapefruit flavours.”

L'Ostal Cazes Vines growing in the foothills of the Black Mountains

From a Lynch-Bages owned-estate, l'Ostal Cazes Estibals is a serious Reserve wine from Minervois. Richly textured with a wealth of bramble fruit and expensive French oak ageing, no surprise then that it picked up a medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2016.

A fresh, blackcurrant scent. The palate is clean and savoury with a cooler fruit profile, tannin, spice and a savoury finish.”  Judge’s Note

Luzon's sun-drenched vineyards in Southern Spain.

Another medal-winner at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2016 was Altos de Luzon, this is a stunning vintage of one of our favourite reds, a real class act as usual.

“Notes of barrique and cassis on the nose with a vibrant and juicy palate of mature fruit.” Judge’s Note

Miguel Torres' Ribera del Duero project 'Celeste' is so named due to its proximity to the heavens! This comes highly recommended by Wine Spectator and is very good Ribera at this price.

“A polished texture carries reserved but harmonious flavors of black cherry, licorice, smoke, tar and mineral in this rather austere red. Well-integrated tannins impart structure, giving this depth and focus. Score: 90/100”
