For Friday night at home in front of the fire I can think of nothing better than a nice warming bottle of Etnico (€9.99 down from €13.99) with layers of rich, ripe dark-berried fruit backed up by toasty oak, this wine from Chilean superstar winery Emiliana is a fantastic addition to their range. Dubbed "Little Coyam" it is a worthy sibling to Emiliana's star wine.
On Sunday with a late brunch the Rizzardi Prosecco Frizzante (€14.99) is just the wine carry us through the afternoon. This amazing frizzante version of the brilliant extra-dry Prosecco from this peerless old Veneto house has the perfect balance of ripe pear fruit and fine crisp backbone.
With a delicious roast rib of beef on the bone planned for bank holiday Monday lunch the Amancaya (€14.99 down from €20.49) is definitely going to be the wine I go for. This is one of the easiest wines to fall in love with a hedonistic, full flavoured, velvety red from Bodegas Caro. This rich, sumptuous red is a result of decades of work which have turned Caro into one of Argentina's finest producers - incidentally it is joint owned by DBR Lafite and Nicolas Catena!
