We are delighted to be taking part in Rhône Wine Week Ireland (Nov. 4th -11th), there is a fabulous range of events taking place across Ireland to celebrate the diverse and distinctive wines of the Rhône Valley. We have plenty of Rhône wines on promotion this week (highlighted below) plus the opportunity to taste Rhône wines in-store so pop in and see us.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cháteau Mont-Redon 2014 (€33.45 down to €29.95) is a big, smooth, generous red with judicious use of oak, and complex layers of very pure black and red fruits. Age-worthy but drinking beautifully now.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blason du Rhône 2015 (€34.45 down to €19.95) is a classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape meaning it has layers of red fruits like cherry and strawberry mixed with peppery spice and a full bodied palate. This wine will be on the tasting table in all O'Briens Stores on Saturday November 11th.
Crozes Hermitage Cave de Tain 2015 (€19.95 down to €17.95) is a benchmark Crozes-Hermitage, so it's not a blockbuster but shows enticing aromas of raspberry and violet with light pepper and quite a fresh finish. This wine will be on the tasting table in all O'Briens Stores on Friday November 10th.
Côtes du Rhône Villages Cave de Rasteau 2012 (€18.95 down to €16.95) is a terrific value village-level Rhône with rich, dark berry fruits, cherry, liquorice spice and savoury olive like aromas and velvety tannins.
Lirac Château Mont Redon 2015 (€19.95 down to €16.95) Leading Châteauneuf producer, Mont-Redon, also make this superb Grenache-based wine, which is loaded with ripe bramble fruit and hints of sweet spice.
Côtes du Rhône Guigal 2013 (€15.95 down to €13.95) Rhône royalty makes for a very reliable red with strawberry and plum fruit allied to some herbal notes and a sprinkle of pepper with smooth tannins.
Côtes du Rhône Jean-Luc Colombo Les Abeilles 2015 (€15.95 down to €13.95). High profile star of the Rhône, Jean-Luc Colombo's humble but silky Côtes du Rhone is a delight with attractive red fruits and liquorice-like spice.
Côtes du Rhône Bonpas 2015 (€14.95 down to €11.95) is textbook Côtes du Rhône: medium bodied, lots of mixed berry wild fruit and virtually no tannin. So very soft and easy to drink! A brilliant all-rounder to drink with or without food. This wine will be on the tasting table in all O'Briens Stores on Thursday November 9th.
