True to its left bank origins, Chateau Fourcas Hosten has multiple layers of black fruits, spices and savoury undertones, this is a modern classic and Bordeaux lovers will not be disappointed particularly since the bottle age gives a subtle roundness the palate.
Gerard Bertrand Cigalus 2011 €38.99 to €29.99
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Caladoc, Concentrated flavours of blackberries along with spice, toasted oak and perfectly balanced with velvety tannins in signature Gerard style.
Antinori Tignanello 2011 €87.49 to €70.00
This original Super Tuscan is one of Italy’s most famous and highly-regarded wines. Aged firstly for twelve months in oak, then a further twelve months in bottle. A framework of black fruits with savoury undertones and a firm tannic structure mirrors top Margaux.
Echo de Lynch-Bages 2009 €75.00 to €55.00
Owned by Lynch-Bages, this wine is dense and richly seductive, this vintage of Echo has a texture and structure close to that of the Grand Vin. With approachable tannins, a light oakiness and a silky texture the finish is both smooth and powerful.
