The O’Briens Great Gin Sale for July has drawn to a close. Still looking for some great gins at great prices? Well, fear not. We have some great offers on a selection of fantastic gins for the month of August. Here is my pick of three great craft Irish gins, certainly worth trying out if you haven’t already.
Now €45.00 (Was €50.00)
Harking back to Georgian era and the spices of the Far East that found their way to Dublin. This gin takes eight classic gin botanicals and blends with separately distilled Oolong tea and fragrant Osmanthus flowers, both imported in huge quantities in the 1800s from China. Expect zingy fruit alongside floral wild hedgerow and herbs and spice. An orange peel works great as a garnish here.
Now €39.00 (Was €44.00)
Distilled on the shores of Lough Erne, Co. Fermanagh, Boatyard are one of the few Irish distilleries to produce their own base spirit. Made from organic wheat, traceable from bottle to the farm it came from. The result is a gin with a smooth full body and classic Juniper led character backed up with a complex mix of spicy root botanicals and light citrus notes. A wedge of pink grapefruit adds another dimension this this in a G&T.
Now €40.00 (Was €45.00)
Another great new Irish distillery (and another Lough). This time it’s the Lough Ree Distillery with Sling Shot gin. This gin takes classic spicy elements adding zesty fruit (orange, lemon and lime) and fresh mint. The final unique element is local peat. The result is delicious blend of zesty citrus, menthol and spice with a light touch, but unmistakeably, earthy peat element. A sprig of mint and grapefruit wedge complete a perfect G&T.
