In 1724, Richard was born in County Cork, like many of his contemporaries he left Ireland in 1745 to enlist in King Louis XV’s of France'sIrish Brigade.
While serving with the Brigade hediscovered the Charente region shortly after the Battle of Fontenoy...
And in 1765, Richard returned to Charente and established his own Maison in Cognac.
We are delighted to welcome Marc Boissonnet, Ambassador to the House of Hennessy, to O'Briens Douglas this October.
Marc will host a special tasting to celebrate the recent introduction of Hennessy Fine de Cognac “The alchemy of nature revealed in a cognac” into the Hennessy portfolio and share with us his passion for the authenticity of both the House and its collection of cognacs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about this iconic cognac and to taste the Hennessy range, including those I have highlighted below:
Hennessy Cognac V.S.(€31.99) is a blend of about 40 eaux-de-vie from the four first growing areas of the Cognac region. With a bright golden colour, the powerful bouquet is dominated by overtones of oak, giving way to reveal a delicate scent of hazelnuts.Inte nse and floral, V.S combines the sweetness of red fruits with a hint of vanilla that lingers on the palate.Intense and floral, V.S combines the sweetness of red fruits with a hint of vanilla that lingers on the palate.
Hennessy Fine de Cognac (€41.99) Created in 2002, and defined by its crystalline appearance, Fine de Cognac is a balanced blend, combining eaux-de-vies characterised by the finesse of floral notes and the delicate accents of fruits, and preserved by a subtle aging.
Hennessy XO (€130.99) Created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870 for his circle of friends, X.O was born at a turning point in history and introduced a new style of cognac: bold, rich and complex. Its flavours of candied fruit and its subtle and lightly spicy nose create a complete harmony: a mark of its power and roundness.
You will also receive a €10 voucher on the night to spend in O’Briens Douglas Court on any Hennessy product.
