You can now get 6 for the price of 5 on over 130 Irish craft beers and ciders. There is a lot to choose from but today I am going to pick out just a few. Hail Glorious Saint Patrick from Drogheda brewery Jack Cody’s is the perfect sipper for our national day. This limited edition extra stout is made with oatmeal, vanilla pods and fresh espresso beans producing a rich smooth body with the perfect balance of chocolate, vanilla and coffee notes.
Staying on theme but for those who prefer a more hop dominated beer I would point you to the limited edition Double Irish from Eight Degrees brewing. This double IPA is an amped up version of their excellent Full Irish IPA made with 100% Irish malted barley and packed with new world hop. Big, bold and super smooth with tropical fruit and bitter pine notes. As they put it themselves, “think the Full Irish, dialled up to 11”.
To round out I would recommend the delicious Scotts Dry Irish Cider frombrother and sister team, Jonathan and Louise Scott, based in county Cavan. This cider with its short-lived sparkle and smooth full flavour would be perfect to enjoy on a sunny Saint Patrick’s Day. Fingers crossed for some sunshine.
