The Ascheri family have been making wine in Piedmont since the early 19th century, but the winery as we know it today was established in 1880, when the family took the decision to move from the town of La Morra to Bra, which had become the most important town for the distribution of Barolo.
Since that time they haveadded to the original La Morra Vineyards with estates in Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno and Bra allowing for the production of a wide range of wine styles, such as the crisp, refreshing and mineral-drivenGavi di Gavi, the vibrantly juicyDolcetto d'Alba, the deliciously sweet and lightly sparkling Moscato d'Astiand of course the masterpiece that is the complex and multi-layered SoranoBarolo.
Today all winemaking responsibilities rest with Matteo Ascheri, whose wines display a grace and charm that is almost Burgundian. Minimal intervention is the practice here, Matteo believes strongly in letting the grapes and the soil speak for themselves and the results are astounding. These are acoustic "unplugged" wines.
