New Gins!

Without doubt, this is gin and tonic weather! Good thing we have you covered with over 40 gins on offer in our Summer Gin Sale. From all-time favourites to  brand new gins. Here are just three picks from our recent additions to the line-up. All three have made the short trip across the Irish sea but that’s where the similarities end. Each offers something different, from spicy to fruity to savoury.

Opihr Gin 70cl (Was €39.95/Now €34.95)

The recipe for this gin takes inspiration from the spice route sailing ships would have taken. Leaving Britain and landing at Spain and Morocco, before sailing through the Suez Canal and on to Indian subcontinent and further to the Far East. On taste Opihr (pronounced ‘o-peer’) reflects those heady spicy tones with plenty of cardamom, coriander and black pepper. This is kept balanced with some fruity sweetness from the zesty Spanish oranges.

Try it with Fever-Tree tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit. Also works really well in a Gin Buck, gin and ginger ale.

Whitley Neill Blood Orange (Was €40.95/Now €35.95)

Flavoured gins have taken Britain by storm over the last couple of years and the interest on this island is certainly growing. Flavoured gin is a new style that, rather than deriving its flavour from many different botanicals, they instead have a single distinct and predominant flavour. That's what you get with this Whitley Neill, this gin is absolutely bursting with Sicilian blood orange flavour. Of course, you still need balance, with subtle spicy tones of juniper, orris root and coriander in support.

Works really well with Lamb & Watt Basil hibiscus tonic and a few fresh raspberries.

Tanqueray Lovage 1 litre (Was €72.00/Now €62.00)

This new limited edition release from Tanqueray is available  exclusively  from O’Briens in Ireland. This savoury gin is inspired by an original 1839 recipe from Tanqueray’s founder, Charles Tanqueray. The key eponymous botanical, Lovage, is a perennial herb, widely grown in England. Flavour wise it is often described as a mix of celery and parsley, except bolder and more intensely flavoured than both. So you can expect plenty of herbaceous and earthy tones alongside classic juniper flavours.

Try it with Poachers Classic tonic and garnish with a coriander leaf.
