FACT: There have been more people in space than have become Masters of Wine : so we are delighted to annouce that our very own Head of Wine Buying Lynne Coyle has this week been awarded this prestigious title.
The Institute of Masters of Wine is universally acknowledged to be the world’s leading authority on wine, the promotion of professional excellence and knowledge of the art, science and business of wine is at its core.
The notoriously rigorous tasting and theory examinations cover all aspects of wine from grape growing and wine making through to labelling and only a tiny proportion of those who begin the programme will make it through to become a Master of Wine, there are still only 370 Masters of Wine world wide today.
Lynne has been working towards her goal since 2009, she has tasted her way through 1000’s of wines in preparation, has spent endless of hours studying and this year completed an in depth research project.
At O’Briens our entire range of over 1,000 wines has been sourced, tasted and selected before it reaches our shelves by Lynne and her team, we are so proud of her great achievement and delighted that we can benefit from her experience and knowledge every day in O’Briens.
Lynne is was the first Female Master of Wine based in the republic of Ireland, she joins only three others Martin Moran MW, Dermot Nolan MW , and Alan Crowley MW, representing the Institute of Masters of Wine here.
