We are delighted and honoured to have Count Giuseppe Rizzardi visiting us to host atastingthis week (unfortunately now sold out).
In the late 1990’s, Giuseppe joined the family business at the historic Veneto estate, Guerrieri Rizzardi, who acquired their vineyards in Negrar back in 1649.
Giuseppe not only makes the Wine but is also in charge of the estate’s management, and he has presided over a quality-based evolution from an already strong base.
This was immediately recognised by top Italian wine guide Gamberro Rosso who have awarded at least one his wines a ‘3 Bicchieri’ top-rating every year since 2001, culminating in the grand prize in 2014 of “Red Wine of The Year” for the flagship Amarone Calcarole 2009.
To celebrate Giuseppe’s visit we are offering a 20% discount on all his wines until 10pm Sunday March 6th.
I have picked out just a few below, all of which will be on the tasting table in yourlocal O’Briens storethis weekend.
Rizzardi Prosecco Frizzante (€11.99 down from €14.99)
“Well worth buying…..too often frizzante Prosecco is rather sweet but this is a bone-dry version with some good bright pears and and apples and a clean fresh finish.”
Leslie Williams, Irish Examiner
Rizzardi Costeggiola Soave Classico (€12.35 down from €15.45)
“Zesty lemon peel on the nose, a smooth rounded mouthfeel. A great food wine”
Judge’s Comments, Medal-Winner at the International Wine Challenge 2015
Rizzardi Munus Bardolino Classico (€14.95 down from €21.45)
“The Guerrieri-Rizzardi Estate is one of the longest running family-owned estates in the wine world. This complex, oak aged, Corvina-dominated, Merlot-infused wine is delicious.”
Tomás Clancy, the Sunday Business Post
