Our Irish Whiskey Sale is coming to an end, finishing up this Easter Monday.
Irish whiskey is experiencing a renaissance with many new distilleries setting up, showcasing the diverse range of whiskey now produced on the island. Teeling, winners of over 60 international awards over the last three years, are placing themselves at the forefront of this movement. Their goal is to produce a collection of whiskeys that illustrate the breadth of choice and the different styles and flavours that Irish whiskey has to offer. With this in mind I have picked out three whiskeys whichshowcase the versatility of their range.
First up is Teeling Single Grain. Fully matured in Californian cabernet sauvignon barrels this is an upfront sweet and fruity expression. Smooth and soft yet retaining a definite wood influence with warm sweet spice notes on a long dry finish. It is easy to see why this was awarded ‘Best Irish Grain Whiskey’ at the recent World Whiskies Awards.
Teeing Small Batch is a blend of Irish grain and malt whiskeys in the traditional manor. However Teeling put a twist on tradition by finishing their whiskey for 6 months in ex-rum barrels. Displaying ripe fruit and spicy vanilla with smooth textured mouthfeel and a dry cedar and sweet spice finish.
Finally we have the Teeling 23 year old (Limited stock available in stores). This is an exclusive bottling for O’Briens from a single cask distilled in 1991. A complex yet smooth and mellow expression and one of the oldest single malt Irish whiskeys ever released. There is limited stock available of this rare and exceptional expression of Irish Single Malt Whiskey.
