The weather seems to be finally catching up with the calendar and this weekend should show a perfect Irish summer- by which I mean sunny patches in-between the odd rain showers! Still, it is a perfect opportunity to crack open a bottle of rosé and sit out in our back gardens, umbrellas at the ready! And at O'Briens Wines we have you covered with our continuing Buy One Get One Half Price rosé promotion. Or if you can't choose between the 14 wines in the range, why not pick up an online exclusive Summer Rosé Case- a collection hand-picked by the O'Briens Wine team.
I featured this wine a few weeks ago and the reaction by our loyal customers has been sensational! O'Briens Wine Director and Master of Wine, Lynne Coyle, launched her own rosé wine this year. Made in conjunction with Tandem Wines in Spain's Navarra region, it is a low-intervention, wild ferment wine made with the Garnacha grape. I love this wine and it seems the Irish public and press is on board with this one also!
"This is a stunning rosé from Navarra, made by Master of Wine Lynne Coyle at O'Briens Wine. Coyle has made this is conjunction with Bodegas Tandem and has brought all her academic and practical skills to bear here. This Grenache-based rosé has been organically raised, is vegan and made as natural as possible including wild yeast fermentation. In the glass it simply exudes summer joy, clean bright fruit and a lifted warm heather and spiced finish. " -Tomás Clancy, Sunday Business Post 26/05/2019
"Often, delicately coloured rosés can be a bit short on flavour, but Lynne Coyle's is silky, packed with ripe strawberry and red berry flavours, balanced with a fresh crispness." - Corinna Hardgrave, The Irish Independent 04/05/2019
The delicious red fruit flavours and silky palate would pair perfectly with salmon.
L'Ostal Rosé is produced by JM Cazes, the esteemed Bordeaux estate behind Château Lynch-Bages. This wine comes from their Languedoc estate and is consistently our best selling rosé. A pale, clear and delicate hue from a short low-temperature pressing of the grapes. The highly complex and delicate nose offers a subtle combination of rose petals and pomegranate. The palate is supple, light and fresh. The finish offers a pleasant touch of sweetness and lingering aromas of fresh pomegranate.
"A perennial rosé favourite in Ireland from the Cazes family, which owns Château Lynch-Bages. This is a rosé much spicier than you might expect, from the family's foothold on the Mediterranean, down in the Languedoc's Livinière." -Tomás Clancy, Sunday Business Post 26/05/2019
"This is a very attractive elegant light rosé with plenty of redcurrant and raspberry fruit, finishing dry. A nice aperitif or with salmon dishes." -John Wilson, The Irish Times 15/06/2019
One of the reasons this is our best selling rosé is how versatile it is with or without food. Match it with seafood, salads or meats off the BBQ. I recently enjoyed a bottle with slow-cooked beef cheek straight off the BBQ.
The Provence region of France, nestled against the Mediterranean sea and benefiting from its fresh breezes, is renowned for producing the best rosé wines in the world. Château Riotor Rosé comes from the Côtes de Provence region and can compete with the very best of them.
Crafted by top Châteauneuf-du-Pape producer, Mont Redon, it is an attractive medium-bodied rosé with fantastic fruit definition- crunchy raspberry and ripe cherry fruits. The complex and alluring palate is dry and silky, with a long finish and good refreshing acidity. If you think all rosé is simple and light, you should try this.
"My favourite French rosé in O'Briens' "buy one, get a second half-price" promotion, for its cranberry fruit with a tangy, ruby-grapefruit finish. 90/100." -Martin Moran, The Sunday Times 02/06/2019
"This delicious rosé is made from a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Vermentino, so you're getting plenty of fruit with fresh flavours of raspberry, red cherry and pink grapefruit." - Corinna Hardgrave, The Irish Independent 22/06/2019
Think anything southern French and you'll be on to a winner. Grilled Langoustines would be perfect!
