In addition to the forty-five wineries who will be presenting their wines at our fair, I am delighted to report that one of Ireland’s leading wine writers, John Wilson will also be attending.
John will be offering a tasting of a selection of wines from his new book, Wilson on Wine 2015, signed copies of which will be available at the fair at the special price of €10 (RRP €12.99).
In his capacity as wine correspondent for The Irish Times, John tastes thousands of wines each year and the 123 wines that made it into the book are a selection of his favourites from the last twelve months.
This book has been four years in the planning and John is delighted that to have The Irish Times supporting the project.
John’s personal wine preferences are for elegant, refined reds & crisp, mineral light whites and he dislikes few wines, so there is a wide range of wine-styles covered in the book.
Far from being a book for the wine anorak, John’s aim is to help the everyday wine drinker to buy an interesting wine at a reasonable price (80% of wines in the book are priced at under €20.00).
So while you are at the wine fair, be sure to drop by table number forty-six to meet with John and pick up a signed copy or two (surely the ideal Christmas stocking-filler for the wine-lover in your life)!
