Wine Sale Update

We are one week into our wine sale and I thought now would be the perfect time to shine the spotlight on a few more of my favourites from the line-up. Needless to say, that with over 100 wines included, there many more treats available than I can possibly list here, but if you would like to view the full offering click here

Château Lafite-Rothschild sits at the top of the tree in Bordeaux and is ranked amongst the very best wines in the world. Los Vascos is their Chilean outpost, Vascos and they produce this outstanding Sauvignon Blanc (€9.99 down from €14.99) , which is probably the most fresh, grassy example wehave seen from Chile. Fantastic and bursting with fruit, this must to be tasted to be believed. It is that good!

As you can see below, there is no doubt that Leyda wines are the pioneers of the cool-climate Leyda valley:

“…founded in 1998, this producer has been instrumental in helping transform a region into a burgeoning vineyard realm for cool-climate grape varieties.” Wine Spectator, May 2014

Their Chardonnay Reserva(€9.99 down from €13.99)exemplifies the distinctiveness of the grape variety; on the nose it has ripe citrus notes together with tropical hints of guava and passion fruit. On the palate, it is fresh, with concentrated fruit flavours and honeysuckle notes. It is very wellbalanced, with a smooth texture and a juicy finish.

Based in the exciting new region of Darling, Cloof make thoroughly modern South African wines. The Dark Side (€8.99 down from €13.49) is not your typical Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blend, thanks the cool sea breezes which temper the warm sun this wine strikes the perfect balance between freshness and ripeness, this is all about deep blackberry and cassis fruit rounded off with a lick of good fresh oak.

A terrific wine from one of the best terroirs in the Languedoc, Gerard Bertrand’s Pic St Loup (€12.49 down from €16.49) is incredibly smooth with layer upon layer of wild bramble fruit, but is in no way heavy. Equally good with or without food, it is easy to see why this remains one of our star wines.
