The Restaurant | Virgin Media One | Episode 3 featuring Celebrity Chef, Maura Derrane

By Lorcan O'Brien | Wine & Communications Manager

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Virgin Media One’s ‘The Restaurant’ as 'Official Wine Partner' for the new season, with episode 3 airing Thursday 26th 9pm. Our Wine Director, Master of Wine Lynne Coyle worked closely with the restaurant team to pair each exciting dish on the celebrity’s menus with a unique and delicious wine from the O’Briens portfolio of over 800 exclusive wines.

During service, the celebrities get instant feedback in the kitchen to their menu from remote cameras and microphones covering the dining room. So the pressure was on for Lynne to choose wines that would not only match the food but also delight the diners by enhancing their overall experience!

To win the wines from tomorrow's episode – follow us on Instagram @OBriensWine and comment under our picture about episode 3 of The Restaurant! (Ts&Cs apply).

Check back each week for a first look at all the dishes and wines before the show airs and follow us on Twitter & Instagram with your thoughts and comments on the show and wine pairings. All the wines on the show can be found in your local O’Briens and online and all have special prices for the next few weeks!

Lingenfelder Hare Label Gewürztraminer | Pfalz, Germany

Made exclusively from the Gewürztraminer grape variety, this has attractive perfumed lychee, rose petal and orange blossom character. The aromatic profile and silky textured palate of this wine pairs wonderfully with strong flavours such as the smoked salmon and ginger of this dish.

Domaine Langlois-Château Saumur Rouge | Loire Valley, France

This is 100% unoaked Cabernet Franc from the cool Loire Valley. It is light bodied with rounded tannins and flavours of cassis and raspberry. The pure fruit and refreshing acidity will complement the salty elements of this dish.

Viña Leyda Falaris Hill Chardonnay | Leyda Valley, Chile

This elegant single-vineyard Chardonnay has a ripe citrus fruit character of lemons and tangerine married to subtle almond and toast flavours from the oak ageing. The silky palate is textured with a saline minerality that will beautifully complement the seafood of this dish.

Stonier Pinot Noir | Victoria, Australia

A fantastic Pinot from the Mornington Peninsula, one of the coolest and trendiest areas in Victoria. The cooling ocean influence guarantees freshness of fruit. Bright and aromatic, this is a delicious, juicy and fragrant red with layers of cherry, mocha & a touch of herb making it a perfect match with the hogget.
