My Father and both Grandfathers were Publicans, so I guess you could say it was in the blood, all in all, whether in hospitality, retail or my current role, I have been working with wine my entire career.
Visiting Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes, during the harvest and seeing the winemakers work their magic on the wonderfully ripe Malbec grapes.
In Spring/Summer, it would have to be a delicious Fino or Manzanilla Sherry which for me have to be some of the best value wines available. In the Autumn and Winter it has to be a red, and when choosing a red wine I invariably end up going Italian.
For the Sherry, it would have to be alongside some tapas in a bar somewhere off the tourist trail in Andalucía, for anything else it would have to be at home with good food in the company of good friends.
