Man O' War
Waiheke Island, New Zealand

Man O’ War was started in 1993, located on Waiheke Island off the northern coast of New Zealand’s North Island. Winemaker and CEO, Duncan McTavish, oversees the farming of 60 hectares of vineyards.

Waiheke’s climate is influenced by the surrounding sea, enjoying a warm, dry maritime climate. Sea breezes moderate summer temperatures and extend the growing season late into the Autumn. The main black grapes grown in Man O’ War’s 76 hillside vineyard plots are the Bordeaux varieties Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, as well as Syrah and Malbec. White wines are made with the estate’s Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay varieties.

CEO and Winemaker, Duncan McTavish, honed his craft in some of the most prestigious wine regions in the world and firmly believe that great wine is made in the vineyard, so only the healthiest grapes go into their cuvées. He uses a combination of stainless steel and high-grade French oak in the winery to produce elegant and balanced wines.
