Easy Classic Cocktails At Home

Sometimes, it's better to keep things simple and we're going back to basics with these easy classic cocktail recipes. Delicious and simple - but still impressive - here's how to make a mojito and that most classic of whiskey cocktails, the Old Fashioned.

Mojito

A true cocktail classic, the mojito is a refreshing mix of mint, lime and rum. Here we're using Havana Club Añejo Especial rum for added flavour.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Add the sugar syrup and and lime mix to a glass and stir.
  2. Muddle (lightly mash) the mint sprigs in the sugar and lime mixture.
  3. Add the rum and ice cubes, stir, and top up with tonic - or sparkling water.
  4. Garnish with a mint sprig.

Old Fashioned

When it comes to whiskey cocktails, the Old Fashioned is probably top of the list for most people as it really plays into whiskey's core flavours.

Method

  1. Add the sugar syrup, bitters and bourbon to a rocks glass.
  2. Add ice and stir gently until the level of the ice and liquid equalize.
  3. Zest an orange peel over the top of the glass to release the aromatic oils.
  4. To finish, add the peel to the drink as a garnish.
