Irish and family owned, O'Briens Wine Beer Spirits started life as a grocery store in Bray, Co. Wicklow back in 1944, with the aim of bringing quality and value to its customers.

Since then we have grown to become the most successful and trusted wine retailer in Ireland. We employ over 250 people across 34 stores nationwide and in our support office in Sandyford, Dublin.

Over the years we have developed close relationships with winemakers and import much of our range of more than 1,000 wines directly from over 180 wineries across the globe.

Do I need to know a lot about wine, beers and spirits to work at O’Briens?

Not at all, you just need an interest and willingness to learn. We offer a whole host of training opportunities, from weekly in-store tastings to professionally recognised courses for wines, beers and spirits. You’ll be an expert in no time!

Do I need to have retail experience?

You don’t have to have retail experience to work with us as full training across all areas will be provided. You just need to be enthusiastic and a team player.

Do you hire students?

Absolutely! There’s lots of flexibility within a role at O’Briens and we understand the demands of college life, with its course work, classes and study requirements. Our managers work with students to support them with time off for exams etc.

What sort of roles are available?

As well as part time and full-time roles across our stores there are great assistant and senior management opportunities. We also have positions across a variety of areas in our support office and warehouse as well as for drivers and more.

What sort of working hours would be involved?

There are part-time roles available across our stores which vary from 8 – 15, 16 – 24 and 25+ hours a week. The O’Briens team is made up of people of all ages and life stages so flexibility is key for both the business and staff. It’s all about teamwork.

Are there career progression opportunities at O’Briens?

We love nothing more than when colleagues progress to senior positions! Many of our current managers - 90% in fact - started out as part timers and we are always happy to provide the tools to help people reach their potential.
