Heading into Summer

Heading into Summer

By Lynne Coyle MW, Wine Director

As we head into warmer weather, and look forward to longer days, we introduce our new set of promotional wines ideal for lighter foods and hopefully some alfresco dining. We always try to introduce a few new wines at this time of year and this year is no exception. We are introducing a summery new Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, a funky new Malbec from Argentina and a refreshing new Viura (Macabeo) from Spain.

Pounamu Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand

Just landed from New Zealand, this new Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc arrives with awards already under its belt. Ex-Cloudy Bay wine maker Evelyn Fraser has managed to nurture the wines vibrant personality with an underlying mineral elegance. Enjoy with summer dishes.

Torres Celeste Crianza, Ribera del Duero, Spain

This delicious, award winning Ribera del Duero is modern & fruit driven in style with plenty of intensely concentrated blackberry & blueberry fruit

on the velvet textured palate. There are notes of vanilla from the American oak aging & hints of toast & coffee. Enjoy with tapas.

Cave de Lugny Mâcon-Villages, Burgundy, France

From one of the most highly regarded Cave Cooperatives in France, its’ hard to beat a classic wine style at this time of year. Chilled straight

from the fridge, unoaked Chardonnay, with lemon notes, a ripe core & a clean bright finish. Enjoy with pasta & salads.

Norton Porteño Malbec Limited Edition

For the prestigious Norton Winery, this is an exclusive wine project between O’Briens & Norton. This Malbec is ripe, juicy & concentrated

with warm red & blackberry fruits, silky tannins & a lingering smooth slightly spiced finish. Enjoy with BBQ dishes.

Luzón Finca La Solana Blanco, Jumilla, Spain

Made from 100% Viura, known locally as Macabeo, this is a refreshing new white from Jumilla in Spain. Unoaked with floral, fruity aromas

followed by a crisp refreshing palate we are delighted with the value quality ratio on this little gem. Enjoy with seafood.
