New Irish Whiskey Arrivals

New Irish Whiskey Arrivals

By Denis Smyth | Beer & Spirit Buyer

Despite our sale finishing last Sunday we are so excited with some of these new premium Irish Whiskey releases which will be hitting our shelves in the coming days. There has never been a better time to be drinking Irish Whiskey so whether you are a veteran or just starting out check these out.

Bushmills Causeway 2011 Sauternes Cask

(€110)

Did you know that the Old Bushmills distillery is the oldest in the world dating back over 400 years? Last year they decided to release a series of single cask editions to great acclaim, and we are delighted to manage to secure some stock of their 2021 releases. This is a single malt which originally aged in Oloroso sherry butts and Bourbon barrels was then finished in Sauternes wine casks. Sauternes is one the worlds most famous sweet wines and this influence of over tow years produces an exceptional whiskey. This is also bottled at cask strength of 56.3% and is an island of Ireland exclusive so we expect demand to far exceed supply.

Dingle Single Malt Batch 6

(€70)

They say that all good things come to an end and unfortunately this will be the final release from Dingle in this current series but don’t fret because knowing our friends in the Southwest they’ll have something else exciting up their sleeves being overseen by current Master Distiller Graham Coull. This is a final release of only 5000 bottles and is finished in port casks which brings a depth to the colour of the liquid that showcases dark gold underlined by a reddish hue in the glass and is bottled at 46.5%.

METHOD and MADNESS Rye & Malt

(€95)

Method and Madness began its life about 6 years producing small batch range at the famous Midleton distillery offering the apprentices and masters the opportunity to experiment with different techniques, innovations, and practices. Under the current stewardship of Katherine Condon their team spent countless hours coming up with the right blend of rye and malt to create this unique hand batched whiskey. The fine balance of 60% rye to 40% malted barley opens up a spectrum of amazing flavours and aromas from this unique whiskey. With the evenings getting darker and the weather colder you should find a place for this in your collection this season.
