Port is fortified wine made in the Douro River Valley in northern Portugal, and whilst over 100 grape varieties are permitted, the most widely planted are Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, and Touriga Nacional. Port wines are rich and sweet with numerous styles to choose from including rosé and white. The  main styles can be categorised by their ageing method, Ruby and Vintage Ports are aged in bottle, and Tawny Ports are aged oxidatively in barrels over an extended period.Â
