The heartland for Sangiovese is Tuscany where it is the main grape in Chianti & Brunello di Montalcino. When the wine is young, aromas of strawberries are typical with a hint of spice. It is not a particularly tannic grape but if aged in oak the tannin intensifies & is sometimes tea like & there will always be an underlying fresh acidity.
