Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the Dão region is protected from both the direct influence of the continental climate and the chill rains from the nearby Atlantic Ocean. Vineyards are planted on slopes at 200m above sea level that helps retain acidity and freshness. The estate works with native grape varieties; Encruzado for the white wines and Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Alfrocheiro e Jaen for the reds.
The main soil composition is granite and vineyard practices incorporate a bio-diversity program. The award-winning wine styles are defined by freshness, bright fruit and smooth elegant tannins and Nuno aims “to respect the unique identity of each terroir”.
