Mendoza is Argentina’s most important wine region, pressed up against the eastern flank of the Andes mountains. The Caro vineyards are grown at altitudes up to 1,600m above sea level with a continental, semi-arid climate. This altitude provides perfect growing conditions for the estate’s Malbecand Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The vineyards are spread across the region’s premium sites, including Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley.

The founding philosophy of Caro is to craft wines that represent the noblest of traditions from Bordeaux and Mendoza: combining Catena’s expertise of growing high-altitude Malbec with the blending and oaking experience of Cabernet Sauvignon perfected by generations of Barons de Rothschild. The wines are produced in a state-of-the-art facility using stainless steel and French oak barrels produced in DBR’s cooperage in Bordeaux.
