Founded in 1890, with over 100 years of winemaking history, Bodegas Riojanas is located in Rioja and farms over 100 hectares around the town of Cenicero.
In this part of Rioja the climate is considered continental with notable seasonal fluctuations. The vineyard plots of the Bodega are mainly clay and limestone and along with Tempranillo the property also grows Graciano and Mazuelo.
In the vineyard, hand-picking and a manual pre-selection before crushing ensures optimum grape quality at harvest. Modern winemaking techniques in the cellar allows focus on authentically reflecting the Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo grape characteristics.
Depending on wine style, the traditional ageing in either French or American oak adheres to the history surrounding the Bodega and the Rioja region.
