Bodegas Sierra Cantabria is pressed up against the mountains that give the winery its name in the Basque region of Rioja Alavesa. The climate is continental with cold winters and hot summers that get a slight cooling effect of Atlantic breezes over the Cantabrian mountains. The main grape cultivated is Tempranillo, with a little Garnacha and Graciano also grown on the estate’s sustainably managed vineyards.
The family pride themselves as viticulturists and all fruit is sourced from the winery’s own estate, providing the best quality fruit to winemaker Marcos Eguren and his team. Wines are produced in the original 19th century winery but with modern stainless steel and French/American oak casks used to produce renowned, age-worthy wines.
