The Tordo range is produced by the Carneiro family in the Vinho Verde region of northern Portugal, using the Alvarinho grape variety. Alvarinho is also known as Albariño in neighbouring Galicia, but here it takes on a unique personality.
The Carneiro family has a long history in the Basto region of Vinho Verde. Alberto oversees the vineyards while Cristiana leads winemaking, and both are deeply committed to crafting expressive wines that reflect their home region.
Basto is the most inland area of Vinho Verde, with high-altitude vineyards, granite soils and views over the Tâmega river. The climate features hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters, creating ideal conditions for growing Alvarinho. The vineyards and winery are fully family-owned, ensuring quality from grape to glass.
The winery is also certified sustainable, reflecting the family's environmental values. Their Tordo Alvarinho is fresh and crisp, with flavours of red grapefruit & pineapple, making it perfect with shellfish, sushi or even a Thai curry.
