The château is one of the jewels of Pessac-Léognan in the Graves region of Bordeaux, and its wines are amongst the most esteemed in the region. It also marks a modern era of a centuries-old connection between Ireland and Bordeaux.
The original Irish Wine Geese were the men and women who fled Ireland for the continent in the 17th and 18th centuries, going on to establish some of the best-known wineries in Bordeaux. Since then, further generations of Irish émigrés have put down wine roots all over the world to become the modern Irish Wine Geese.
Irish businessman Lochlann Quinn and his wife Brenda continued this storied tradition by purchasing Château de Fieuzal in 2001. Today their son Daragh runs the estate, ensuring this fascinating connection between Ireland and Bordeaux survives for another generation.
