Domaine Joël Delaunay
Loire Valley, France

The Delaunay family have been farming the Touraine region of the Loire Valley in France for 5 generations. The estates 37 hectares is overseen by winemaker Thierry Delaunay since he took over from his father in 2003.

The estate’s vineyards adorn the hillsides above the Cher river, located 50 kilometres east of Tours in northern France. The region experiences a cool, continental climate with short warm summers and cold winters. The risk of frost is reduced by the proximity of the sea to the east and the Cher and Loire rivers, as well as planting on slopes. Sauvignon Blanc makes up the majority of vineyard plantings on the estate and the clay-silex soils are farmed sustainably.

Winemaker Thierry Delaunay crafts fresh, clean wines using modern temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and traditional know-how.
