Enate was founded in 1991 in Somontano, at the foot of the Pyrenees in northeast Spain, with the ambition of creating the best wines in the region. In 1992 the winery began a parallel pursuit of contemporary art, commissioning a different artist to create an original work for each wine's label.
We are truly delighted to introduce the wines of Enate to you. Somontano sits in the foothills of the Pyrenees, where a continental Mediterranean climate is tempered by high-altitude vineyards, and a wide swing between day and night temperatures during summer gives the grapes a long, even ripening.
Enate farms 450 hectares across several valleys around the winery, with vineyards ranging from 400 to 700 metres in altitude and soils that shift from limestone in the south to sandier, clay-rich ground in the ravines and stonier plots to the north.
Their aim is to reflect these diverse lands through their wines. To achieve this, they take a non-interventionist style, led by the character of each vintage rather than a fixed formula. The result is balance and varietal clarity, and a true expression of this unique corner of Spain.
