Langlois-Château was founded in 1885 on some of the finest terroir in the Loire Valley. In 1973 the Bollinger Champagne House bought the estate and today farms 89 hectares across the Saumur, Saumur-Champigny and Sancerre Appellations.
The climate in Anjou-Saumur is temperate Oceanic with warm summers and mild winters. Spring frosts and hail are a perennial hazard in the Loire Valley. The estate's vineyards are farmed in respect to nature and were one of the first to receive the Terra Vitis certification. The main grape varieties grown are Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin-blanc for the white and sparkling wines, and Cabernet Franc for the red and rosé wines.
General Manager, Franois Régis, strives to create pure expressions of the Loire Valley in his wines through minimum intervention winemaking. The modern winery uses pneumatic presses and thermo-regulated vats to coax the best juice from the estate's fruit.
