The Toro D.O. is located high on northwest
Spain ’s Castille y Léon region. With vineyards climbing to 750m above sea level, it has an extreme continental climate with cold winters followed by long, hot summers. The main grape variety is a clone of
Tempranillo, known locally as Tinta de Toro, that benefits from the large diurnal temperature range that the high vineyards provide. Some of the estate’s vines are planted in ancient, pre-phylloxera vineyards.
Acclaimed winemaker, Marcos Eguren (left) and his son Eduardo (middle right), look for a silky elegance in their wines. They use stainless steel in their ultra-modern winery and age the wines in high-grade French oak.
