Description

Tannat is Uruguay's signature grape, brought from the Basque Country by immigrant Pascual Harriague in 1870. In its native home it built a reputation for being strong and tannic, but Uruguay's maritime climate softens it into something easy to enjoy tonight. Familia Deicas do not use oak here, keeping ripe red fruit with notes of rose and violet to the fore. This wine is ideal with grilled meats, ribs or hard cheeses.

Tasting Note

Deep violet in colour. Fresh and expressive nose with intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits, including strawberry, cherry, raspberry, blackberry, plum and blueberry, complemented by delicate floral notes of rose and violet and a hint of fresh herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and fruit-driven, with elegant freshness and a long, persistent finish.
