Barossa valley, Australia, 2021

Family Run Estate
chardonnay
13%
fatty / oily

Description

Geoff and Robert Schrapel of Bethany Wines have a long family history of grape growing in Australia’s Barossa Valley. The fruit for this barrel-fermented Chardonnay is sourced from their vineyards in the foothills of the hot Barossa Valley and cooler Eden Valley. Expect lots of orchard fruits along with a subtle hint of spicy oak and good acidity. A beautifully balanced wine.

Tasting Note

The nose expresses white peach, green apple and honeyed floral notes. Lovely structured palate with tight acidity complementing the rich orchard fruit and toasty oak flavours before a long intense finish.

The Irish Sun

BAROSSA-based Bethany wines, home to the Schrapel family for 150 years, are personal favourites. This cool-climate Chardonnay is no exception. Fruit for this rich and lively Aussie drop comes from the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Barrel-fermented, with a floral, green apple and stone fruit bouquet. The palate is rounded and balanced, with good acidity, prominent citrus and orchard fruit profile, hints of oak and a lingering finish. Enjoy with: Roast pork, chicken, or turkey (with sauces).
