A Polished, Elegant Shiraz
shiraz / syrah
14.5%
Asian & Spicy

Description

The Schrapels have been growing grapes in South Australia's Barossa Valley for over 150 years and the fruit for their Bethany First Village Shiraz comes from vines grown in the foothills of the Barossa Ranges. Fresh and aromatic, it’s full bodied with perfectly balanced acidity and fruit aromas.

Tasting Note

A wine of elegance and power, dark fruits and floral aromatics intermingle with lightly spiced oak and dark chocolate, the palate is rich and driven with fine grained tannins that provide a fluid and elegant finish.

The Irish Sun

There is nothing better than a big, brooding glass of Barossa Valley Shiraz to banish a chilly evening. The Schrapel family have crafted great wines in the valley for some 150 years. I have been drinking them for 20-plus years and have never been disappointed. This is a dark purple colour in the glass, a polished and restrained red that oozes floral and dark berry aromas, with a hint of oak. Dark red and black fruits come to the fore with a lift of sweet aromatics on the palate. Some spice adds to the complexity and intensity. Dense and chewy tannins give a grip and texture that envelops the fruit and delivers a long and lingering finish.
