Irish Owned Château
Description
The Château Fieuzal estate has a history dating back four centuries and is one of the jewels of the Graves wine region. Their wines are amongst the most esteemed and were ranked among the Crus Classés for red wine in the 1953 & 1959 Classification of Graves wines. Irishman Lochlann Quinn purchased the estate in 2001, making this the 20th vintage under his stewardship.
Potential Drinking Window 2024-2030
A lovely rich tone to the nose here, concentrated and lively. Freshly picked cherry and strawberry fruit give a hit of sharp, brightness before the chalky texture envelops the palate and curtails the forward motion. The acidity is excellent and this has the potential to be quite lively but the structure is taking the fore at the moment with an austerity that brings the wine to a close fairly swiftly though the minerality and coolness gives a long impressive finish. Well constructed with polish and lots of potential. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

Tasting Note
The vintage possesses a sophisticated yet untamed character that is emblematic of 2021. There is a wildness and authenticity to the finest wines, which have sought to respect and express the place where they were cultivated. The colour is light purple and intense. On the nose there are aromas of redcurrant, tangerine and light notes of white pepper, brought by both the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. On the palate, there is freshness with a nice tension and length. There is a subtle saline touch that stands out on the finish with tannins that are elegant and precise.
