Founded by Henri Martin in 1942, Château Gloria is a relative new winery by Médoc standards but is widely recognised as one of the top estates in the St-Julien appellation. Henri expanded the vineyard holdings and today the estate spreads across 48ha of the best terroir in St-Julien. Château Gloria is now run by family member Jean Louis Triaud, and is renowned for producing a more elegant style of St-Julien with great ageing potential.

I love the clear depth to the blueberry and blackberry fruit on the nose here, a sense of elegance and glamour. Silky yet with a kick, this is enjoyable with a saltine cracker twist on the finish - an excellent St-Julien, but a little disappointing for this particular estate when considered next to recent vintages. Tasted twice.
