Description

The Gutiérrez family have been producing wines in Rueda for five generations, in a stunning 350-year-old winery complete with a kilometre of subterranean ageing cellars. The Verdejo grape is one of Spain's top white wine varieties and the ones in this wine come from the certified organic Pago Monte San Martín vineyard. Crisp and aromatic with a herbal finish, it’s a perfect match for seafood.

Tasting Note

The wine is brilliant straw in colour with vibrant varietal aromas of aniseed, fennel and stone fruit. The palate has good structure, crisp acidity and an intense, lingering finish.

The Irish Sun

This remains the most approachable and best-value Verdejo in Ireland. It’s also the most popular white wine sold by the glass in Spanish bars and restaurants. Much of the wine is produced in Rueda, part of Castille-Leon, with fruit grown on a vast plateau where summers are quite hot (30C plus) and winters bitterly cold. This is a bright straw yellow when poured, with the varietal’s characteristic citrus and stone fruit aromas. The palate is fresh and intense with those citrus and stone fruit notes carried over, with a dusting of aniseed and fennel, a giveaway for the varietal. Enjoy with: Pan-fried plaice
