French Discovery - 6 Bottle Mixed Case
Description
France is synonymous with great food and even better wine, with a winemaking history dating to the first Greek settlers in the 6th century BC. Today winemaking is embedded in the very heart of French culture and most of the grape varieties we know and love originated in the classic regions of France. To celebrate classic French wines, the O’Briens Wine Team put together this exciting case, from classic Bordeaux to crisp Loire Valley rosé. We hope you enjoy them. A votre santé!
In this case you will receive one bottle of each of the following wines.
1. Famille Bougrier Sauvignon Blanc, Loire Valley
Dating back to 1885 this is the 6th generation of the Bougrier family to farm these vineyards. Based in the Touraine region of the Loire Valley, the family are still as passionate about the quality of their wines today, as seen in this estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc. It offers clean grassy and citrus fruit aromas and a fresh palate of gooseberry and grapefruit notes.
2. Château Haut Pingat, Bordeaux
Château Haut Pingat is a small family estate in the heart of Bordeaux's Entre-Deux-Mers region. This is a plump, fruit-forward Merlot made in a thoroughly modern style. It is unoaked which allows the primary ripe cherry and plum fruit to shine.
3. Castelnau Aigue Marine, Picpoul de Pinet
Picpoul de Pinet is located in Languedoc in the South of France and is the definitive crisp dry white from the Mediterranean coast. It shows light aromas of peach, apple and a hint of fennel that makes it a perfect wine for pairing with fresh seafood.
4. Cave Saint-Desirat Syrah
Cave Saint-Desirat is a 350-member co-operative that was established in 1960 on the right bank of The Rhône Valley. Their modern wine cellar combines state-of-the-art equipment with traditional winemaking techniques. Although classified as Vin de Pays, this wine’s character clearly straddles the northern and southern Rhône Valley. 100% Syrah, this is beautifully balanced, with the medium-body and silky elegance found in the northern Rhône, but with the pure black berried fruit profile and warming peppery spice typically found in wines from the southern Rhône.
5. Famille Bougrier Rosé, Loire Valley
This delightfully light and fresh rosé hails from the Touraine region of the Loire Valley. Produced by the Bougrier family, who have been farming these vineyards since 1885, this rosé is wonderfully refreshing with crisp, mouth-watering acidity. Light strawberry fruit on the palate is balanced by a crisp and a distinct mineral edge on the finish.
6. Château de Caraguilhes Les Jardins, Languedoc
Owned by the Gabison family, Château Caraguilhes is one of France's oldest, and best, organic estates. The 135 hectares of Languedoc vineyards are strategically surrounded and protected by 500 hectares of scrubland, constituting a rich ecosystem and a unique growing environment. Exclusive to O'Briens, Les Jardins displays aromas of raspberry and blackcurrant, whilst the palate is silky and fresh with fleshy fruity notes and supporting ripe tannins.
