Governo IGT

Toscana, Italy, 2019

sangiovese
14%
savoury

Description

Made at the San Leonino winery in Chianti by Andreas Lonardi using Sangiovese grapes, the winemaking for Governo uses the ancient technique that leaves 30% of the grapes to dry naturally for three months after harvest. Then in December, the dried grapes are pressed and added to the rest of the wine before barrel fermentation and ageing for 5 months.

Tasting Note

The Governo has notes of cassis and cherry fruit as well as aromatic herbs and woody hints, with a mid- palate richness and a savour balsamic finish.

Impressive wine making techniques lead to an impressive wine. 30% of the grapes are dried for three months after harvest. After pressing they are added to the rest of the wine for barrel fermentation for five months resulting in wonderful cherry notes intensified by cassis, herbs and hints of wood.
