Made From Semi-Dried Grapes
Description
This wine is made by Andreas Lonardi at the San Leonino winery in Chianti. Using Sangiovese grapes, the winemaking for Governo uses the ancient technique that leaves 30% of the grapes to dry naturally for three months after harvest. Then, in December, the dried grapes are pressed and added to the rest of the wine before barrel fermentation and ageing for five months. The result is a wine with layers of flavour.
Tasting Note
The Governo has notes of cassis and cherry fruit as well as aromatic herbs and woody hints, with a mid- palate richness and a savour balsamic finish.
