Two Centuries of Irish Connection
cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot
13%

Description

In 1821, Irish merchant Hugh Barton bought Langoa, and his family has remained at the heart of the estate ever since. The 2021 vintage marked its bicentenary, celebrated with a special label featuring four themes in the Barton story: Origin, Heritage, Nature and Evolution. The wine is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak. This is classically structured Saint-Julien, with Cabernet providing the backbone and the balance to reward further time in bottle. Best alongside roast beef or a selection of Irish cheese.

Tasting Note

Intense ruby colour. Complex and expressive nose of black fruit, blackberry and black cherry, with hints of cocoa. Full-bodied and fleshy on the palate, with good balance, freshness and delicate tension. The finish is long and delicious, marked by beautiful fruity notes.
